I know a lot of people on this site tend to come on here more than they should. Like me, I want to try to focus on my personal problems, tasks, etc. before I spend my time on here. For some people, it eventually turns into time-wasting rather than time spending. I've went to avoiding this site, from changing my password to something I surely wouldn't remember. There are people that deactivated their accounts for this kind of reason.

Instead of leaving deviantART permanently, why not suspend yourself? If we have this feature, our watchers will also know that we will be gone for a certain amount of time instead of having them worry or wonder why we are being inactive.

I'm tempted to say that the majority of people on this site are teenagers, and while most of us are in school, we usually procrastinate on this site. Most of us say we really need a break, but we still come on to this site during the time we try to focus on life. If people are aware that they are not able to login, they will stop visiting the site and get on with their life.

I'm not saying everyone is like this, but for those who really have trouble avoiding this site, I think this would be helpful to those deviantART addicts.

Some of you may think "Oh, just learn self control" blah blah blah, but you need to understand, some people are literally addicted, and a feature like this would actually help with self control. Some people can't help their selves so there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with a little help. What do you think therapy is for?


With this feature, the following would occur:

    - Premium membership goes on hold. You're months of premium membership will not go to waste.

    - Customized time will NOT shorten down to minutes or hours. The shortest you can 'vacate' is one day. There is absolutely no reason to make it any shorter.

    - Customized time will NOT be any longer than 6 months. It may not seem fair, but if your time needs lengthened after that suspension expires, you may re-lengthen it, but by that time you would surely forget to logon and do so. You probably forgot that you even have a DA account.

    - If you check the box that says "Disable incoming messages from watchers until I return," which I worded wrong; it means that you can stop receiving messages from people that YOU watch during your suspension. Once your suspension is up, you will receive up to 20 or 50 OLD messages (depending on how long you were gone) each day until they run out and turn into recent messages. So there is no need to worry about checking possibly 1,000 messages when you return. If you DON'T check the box, you may have to check a large amount of messages.

    - If you check the box that says "Clear my profile until I return," your profile will appear to be as the one in the reference picture above. If you DON'T check the box, your profile will remain the same as normal. It is recommended to clear your profile.

    - This check box is not listed above: If you have prints to sell, you can disable people from ordering them.

    - Once your Email is verified and you've agreed to making this possible, you can NOT undo it. You must be certain of the time you want away so you don't regret choosing the time you chose. Make sure you pay close attention when you choose your time, because you can't go back to change it.

    For the WATCHERS of the person who is suspended --> If the person you watch disabled incoming messages, and/ or cleared their profile, that does NOT mean you can't view their art, or comment on it. However, you will possibly not be able to comment on their profile.

    This feature would be for everyone to use, that includes people that don't have a Premium membership. That would be the most unfair thing in the world if that were to be.




I honestly wanted to put Fella there with a :noes: face.. but I couldn't find one, nor had the will to make one. (it would have turned out crappy) plus I just put that there only to fill in the blank blob there.

Maybe this could stop deviants from leaving dA, if they felt like it became acceptable to have a hiatus." I have to say this is a really good idea. I myself felt I was getting slammed at one point from every corner of dA and wanted to deactivate, but cooler heads prevailed and kept me from deactivating my site, which would have cause more harm than good, at least to myself. A self-imposed hiatus would work MUCH better then getting upset and deactivating without a second thought. ( Suggested by ~HorsesofPoseidon and Featured by `WDWParksGal )

I do believe that really sounds like a good idea to me. It would be good for me if i am grounded or something. I think we might have when do we want to suspension..I would just choose five minutes if i need to stay off..If i have the homework then i will put it for about an hour. It would make it easier for me to do anything without getting on DeviantArt. I get on here everyday but i am hooked to it..I would be happy if it saves my Premium membership. I love that idea!!! I will add this to my faves if i can. If i have a vacation that last for about few weeks then i can set to it! I do believe that idea is GREATEST idea i have heard in my life!! I can go on the vacation without having to worry about my Premium expiring! I do believe that DeviantArt should have that!!! :D :clap: Good idea, Good idea. :)

I think this is exactly what we need. I mean I tend to click on the little "Deviantart" icon in my list of bookmarks, whenever I have time... and even when I don't have time.
This is just perfect. Deviantart is addicting, and we all know that. :icononionxdplz: This is definitely going to let us focus on our work. :aww: This is going to save us from all that hassle of sending our friends note saying that we will be away,... if we usually send one. And even if we don't usually send one, the visitors on our page will know that we are away.

...THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE! I am constantly distracted by dA and I have absolutely no willpower of my own to not login. This woud be great for when exams come up ( have failed 1 or 2 thanks to always being o dA XD) o(*w*o)

dA staff get the lead out and make this a feature!

This would definitely help DeviantArt addicts. Sometimes it's just hard to get off the computer. Instead of permanently ridding yourself of an account you can just keep yourself from logging in.
